    This introductory course presents learners with an overview of the safety and health requirements of employers, including the self-employed, in the workplace. It also introduces an outline of the key duties of an employer under Irish health and safety law and explains the process of risk assessment and the purpose of a safety statement. The content is suitable across all work sectors.

    On successful completion of this course you should be able to:

    • Describe key employers' duties under the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act (2005)
    • Explain the purpose of a safety statement
    • Explain the risk assessment process
    • Conduct a simple risk assessment of a hazard in your workplace
