  • Welcome to the Keep Safe e-learning for Primary Schools

    These Keep Safe e-learning modules are brought to you by the Health and Safety Authority. They are designed to keep young people safe and healthy: on the farm; around electricity; using screens and keypads; and at school.

    These modules are designed to be used on an interactive whiteboard with 3rd and 4th class students and were developed in line with the aims and objectives of the Primary School Curriculum.

    Comprehensive teacher guidelines are included within each module and you may choose to use one module or all of the modules with your class.

  • Keep Safe on the Farm

    This online module aims to teach children about farm safety. It is ideal for delivery in class via an interactive whiteboard or a computer projector.

    The aims and objectives of this module correspond with the SPHE curriculum requirements for 3rd and 4th class in relation to farm safety. The module is therefore most suitable for children in 3rd and 4th class but may also be used as a ‘refresher’ lesson with more senior classes.

    Duration: Two 30-40 minute lessons followed by a third quiz based lesson.

    Learning Outcomes:

    • Increase the children’s awareness of hazards on the farm.
    • Engage the children in discussion about hazards on the farm.
    • Equip the children with strategies to be attentive to hazards on the farm.

    Note: This course contains no audio except for farm sounds.

  • Keep Safe around Electricity

    This online module aims to teach children about electricity and electrical safety. It is ideal for delivery in class via an interactive whiteboard or a computer projector.

    The aims and objectives of this module correspond with the SPHE curriculum requirements for 3rd and 4th class in relation to personal safety. There are also elements of this module that correspond to the 3rd and 4th class Science curriculum. The module is therefore most suitable for children in 3rd and 4th class but may also be used as a ‘refresher’ lesson with more senior classes.

    Duration: Three 30-40 minute lessons followed by a fourth quiz based lesson.

    Learning Outcomes:

    • Increase the children’s awareness of electrical hazards.
    • Engage the children in discussion about electrical hazards.
    • Equip the children with strategies to avoid electrical hazards.

  • Keep Safe: Screens and Keypads

    This online module aims to equip children with key information about how to keep safe when using screens and keypads on computers and devices, e.g. tablets and mobile phones. It is ideal for delivery in class via an interactive whiteboard or a computer projector.

    The aims and objectives of this module correspond with the SPHE curriculum requirements for 3rd and 4th class in relation to computer safety. The module is therefore most suitable for children in 3rd and 4th class but may also be used as a ‘refresher’ lesson with more senior classes.

    Duration: Two 30-40 minute lessons followed by a third quiz based lesson.

    Learning Outcomes:

    • Increase the children’s awareness of the hazards related to using computers/devices
    • Engage the children in discussion about the hazards related to using computers/devices.
    • Equip the children with strategies to avoid the hazards related to using computers/devices.

    This online module aims to teach children about safety at school, both indoors and outdoors. It is ideal for delivery in class via an interactive whiteboard or a computer projector.

    The aims and objectives of this module correspond with the SPHE curriculum requirements for 3rd and 4th class in relation to school safety. The module is most suitable for children in 3rd and 4th class but may also be used as a ‘refresher’ lesson with more senior classes.
