    Many serious accidents involving vehicles or mobile equipment occur each year in the workplace. These workplace transport accidents often involve either reversing vehicles, slow speed manoeuvres, falls from vehicles, vehicle runaways, objects falling from vehicles, coupling and uncoupling activity, overturning vehicles or vehicle maintenance. Trucks, vans, lift trucks, cars, powered mobile equipment and other specialist vehicles present particular risks. People can be protected from vehicle risks in the workplace by ensuring that safe vehicles are operated by safe drivers in a safe workplace.

    This short course deals with keeping of safe vehicles in the workplace. It highlights the importance of using vehicles that are safe, suitable and fit for purpose for the tasks and environment in which they are used. The course also covers basic vehicle pre-use checks, standards, servicing and vehicle repairs.
