    This course is suitable for Boards of Management, ETBs, Principals, Vice-Principals, and other specific role holders. It includes useful information for those managing safety, health and welfare in a school, and for all staff working in a school.

    Course duration: 30 minutes

    Learning outcomes:

    On successful completion of this course you should be able to:

    • outline some of the key requirements of the safety, health and welfare at work act 2005
    • apply the Guidelines on Managing, Safety, Health and Welfare in Schools
    • understand risk assessment and the purpose of a safety statement, including emergency procedures
    • demonstrate best practice when managing safety, health and welfare in schools
    • utilise the many resources available from the Health and Safety Authority

  • Slips, Trips and Falls

    This short course presents learners with an overview of slips, trips and falls hazards in the workplace. It introduces the process of risk assessment and prevention through examples of workplace scenarios. The content is suitable across all work sectors.

    Course duration: 30 minutes

    Learning outcomes:

    On successful completion of this course you should be able to:

    • Determine how and where slips, trips and falls accidents can occur
    • Identify a variety of slips and trips hazards in the workplace, and assess their risks
    • Identify suitable controls for eliminating or significantly reducing slips, trips and falls in the workplace
